I will always be a fish first legislator.

I’m proud of my track record as a fierce defender of rural Alaska. If elected, I will make every constituent concern a top priority, as I’ve always done.

Why I’m Running

I’m running for the Senate because seniority makes a tremendous difference. As the outgoing Speaker of the House, I intend to put my years of experience to work on behalf of one of the largest and most diverse senate districts in Alaska. I’m under no illusions that myself, or anyone else, can come in and fill the void left by Lyman Hoffman’s departure. But I’m confident I can immediately compete for an influential position with my background of occupying nearly every leadership role in the House for the past two decades.

I want to continue working to fund our schools, maintain PCE benefits, protect our subsistence rights, strengthen public safety by getting more VPSO’s into our communities, and help lower the high cost of energy and fuel that continues to take an enormous toll on families and businesses in western Alaska.

I will always be a fish first legislator. Southwest Alaska is blessed with tremendous abundance of salmon and other species, but it has also been plagued by low returns in rivers that used to be full of fish. I will continue to work hard to make sure trawlers in the Bering Sea are held accountable, and ADF&G is fully staffed and funded.

I’m proud of my track record in the legislature as a fierce defender of rural Alaska. If elected, I will make every constituent concern a top priority, as I’ve always done.

Thank you for all your support. I respectfully ask for your vote on November 3.
