2026 Primary Election

• Election Day: Tuesday, August 18, 2026

• Request a mailed absentee ballot by: August 8

• Return your ballot: Postmarked on or before August 18 (Election Day)

Applying Online

To use Alaska’s online absentee ballot application, you’ll need a valid Alaska driver’s license or Alaska state ID. If you don’t have one, you can still request an absentee ballot by completing the paper application. 

Tribal IDs

A Tribal ID alone cannot be used to complete the online absentee ballot application or online voter registration. However, Tribal IDs remain an important form of identification in many election settings, and voters without a driver’s license or state ID can still vote absentee using the paper application.
